El Corazón in Bath House Cultural Center Gallery

Posted on Feb 2, 2013 in News

The 19th Annual El Corazón exhibition opened Saturday, February 2, from 7-9 PM.

As it approached two decades, El Corazón continued to excite interest among art lovers as well as local and regional artists. Curator Jose Vargas was originally inspired by “El Corazón,” one of the cards of the Mexican board game, Lotería. He found other artists who were also fascinated by the aesthetics and symbolism of the heart; he presented their artwork in the first El Corazón exhibition in 1993 with immense success. The show soon became an annual tradition for the Bath House Cultural Center. Numerous regional artists have participated in this delightfully eclectic art show throughout the years, many of them members of the Friends of the BHCC.

The exhibition was on display through March 2, 2013.
